"Thank you for taking your
time to come to our school, Claremont High School, to talk about all you
went through in the Holocaust.
"Before the symposium, I didn't know that much about the Holocaust.
I didn't even know that six million Jews got killed. Because I didn't
know much about the Holocaust, I really couldn't be very aware of the
problems you talked about. After your presentation, though, and after
hearing all that you had to say, I am much more aware and I think it is
my responsibility now to stop others form being racist and to speak up
and tell other that racism is wrong.
Hearing your story of incredible survival in the face of such horror and
brutality really has made a huge impact on me, especially the part where
the families were split up. In a way, I can relate to that because my
real parents and sister are in India, and I live with my dad's brother
who adopted me when I was small so I could get a better chance in life.
I would just like to say thanks one more time for coming to our school.
Now, I will stop to think more about what I see going on around me and
be willing to take whatever steps are necessary to see that what you talked
about doesn't happen again."
